SHOW PIGS
GRADER’S REPORT ON PORKER CLASSES. BORTHWICK CUP COMPETITION. The grader’s report on the porker class (two .porkers up to 801 b.) at the Masterton Show, in the competition for' the Borthwick Cup states: — Pen No 54 —Mrs E. Palmer, first (unplaced at Show). Excellent pigs; even quality and weight; very suitable for export. Pen No. 57 —S. H. Cotter, second (first at Show). Very good pigs showing great length of loin; not quite finished in condition.
Pen No. 55 —Rayner & Collie Bros, third (unplaced at Show). Good type; one overweight. Pen No. 56 —Mrs M. J. Cowden (second at Show). Very good pigs for type and quality; one head rejected. Following is the report of the grader on the class for one fat pig, 121-1601 b — Pen No. 33—Rayner & Hood, first (first at Show). An excellent pig; weight 1461 b; showing right type and quality for this class of export baconer.
Pen No. 34 —W. R. Daysh, second (unplaced at Show). Very good type, in fair condtion; a little more finishing required; weight, 1221 b.
The grading took place at the Feilding works of Messrs. Thomas Borthwick & Sons, Ltd.
