PURGE OF PUBLIC SERVICE INQUISITION IN OCCUPIED AREAS. EVEN PASSIVITY PENALISED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, March 15. The Burgos correspondent of “The Times” says that elaborate details of the purge of public officials in the “liberated regions,” are published by the Nationalist Ministry of the Interior. All concerned with urban, rural, and other administrations must, within eight days of the occupation of the Republican terrorists, answer questionnaires stating in detail the attitude they adopted toward the Republican regime and their affiliations to political parties and Freemasonry. They must also produce witnesses and documents as proof of their answers. Penalties can be imposed for sins of omission and commission, thus indicating any anti-patriotic attitude or passivity among those who could have cooperated with the Nationalist movement but did not do so. Other vague offences indicate that the net has been flung wide.
