LEAGUE OF NATIONS

ATTITUDE OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. NO CHANGE PROPOSED AT PRESENT. (Independent Cable Service.) (Received This Day. 9 a.m.) ' LONDON, March 14. In the House of Commons the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr R. A. Butler, in reply to a question, said that although it must be recognised on all sides that circumstances in the past had imposed upon the League of Nations tasks beyond its powers the Government was fully aware of the value of the League’s organisation for furtherance of international consultation and collaboration and it would neglect no practical means of maintaining and expanding its usefulness. Mr Butler said: “The Government does not propose at present to suggest any alteration in the League’s constitution or objects.”
