WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT NIREAHA. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Nireaha Women’s Institute there was a good attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted.' The secretary, Mrs Wilkin, gave an interesting resume of the year’s work. The following officers were elected for the co.ming year: —President, Mrs Shannon; ‘ vice-presidents, Mesdames Nordell. Hawkins and Cadwallader; secretary, Mrs Wilkin (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Stewart, Davis, Lozell, Duncan and Miss Shannon. -
Mrs Stpwart was appointed to take charge of the competitions. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring president (Mrs Petersen) for her servicer during the past year.
The winners of the competitions were as follow: —Best collection of vegetables, Mrs Hawkins and Mrs Lozell, equal, 1; Mrs Thomasen, 3. Best bloom, Mesdames Stewart and Hawkins, equal, 1; Mesdames Lozell. W. Drysdale and Shannon, equal, 3. The points prizes for the last six months were as follow: —Competitions, Mrs Wilkin. Blooms, Mrs Blewett 1, and Mesdames Thomasen and Mills 2. Afternoon tea was served at the conclusion of the meeting, the hostesses being Mesdames Thomasen and Cadwallader.
