MASTERTON COLLIE CLUB

DOG TRIALS IN MAY. SPECIAL PRIZES OFFERED. At a meeting of the committee of the Masterton Collie Club, further arrangements were made fbr the trials to be held on Mr Geo. Shaw’s property at Te Ore Ore on May 3, 4 and 5. The president (Mr J. M. James) presided over a very good attendance. The financial statement showed the club to be in a sound position. A vice-president wrote enclosing a donation of £2.

Mr R. H. Williams wrote accepting the position of hon. auditor to the club.

The only alteration to the schedule provides for the maiden huntaway dogs to complete the full course, instead of two sets of flags only, as previously.

Special prizes were donated as follow: —A lady’s bracelet by Mrs Macdonald, for the local lady nominating the local dog scoring the most points in Class II.; Messrs Thomson and J. McGuinness, a prize of £1 for the maiden competitor working his dog in the most workmanlike manner in Class III.A; Mr J. M. James, a trophy valued at £1 Is for the maiden competitor with a maiden dog scoring the most points in Class II.; Mr R. Liverton, a trophy of £1 Is for the dog under best command in Class I. The secretary reported that the North Island championship meeting would be held at Gisborne, commencing on May 29.
