PLUNKET SOCIETY. QUEEN CARNIVAL CANDIDATES. ' I ' ("Times-Age” Special.) The following are the. candidates chosen for the Plunket Society’s Queen Carnival: Featherston, Miss Greta McTaggart; Western Lake, Miss Eileen Cole; South Featherston and Kaiwaiwai, Miss Ngaire Tocker; Kahautara and Pihautea, Miss Nancy Corlet. The candidates are to be introduced at the Plunket Ball, to be held on April 27. At the first meeting of the year of the Western Lake Ladies’ Guild, the Vicar, the Rev. J. T. Holland, gave a most interesting address on “Our Responsibility to the New Generation.” Afternoon tea was provided. Personal. Miss Betty Rowles is home on sick leave from the Training College, Wellington. ■Mr and Mrs F. Clarke left on Saturday on a motor tour of the North. Miss Alice Arbon, Wellington, was a week-end visitor to Featherston. Miss Morena Ritchie, Lower Hutt, spent the week-end with her parents in Featherston. WOMEN’S DIVISION. FIRST MEETING OF YEAR. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held their first meeting for the year last Friday, when there was a fair attendance.' Mrs Wakely presided. The resignations of two members who were leaving the district, were accepted. In gpite of dry weather, there was a good display of flowers. The competitions resulted as follows: Flowering shrubs, Miss Viles 1 and 2, Mrs Wakely 3. Bulbs: Miss Viles 1, Mrs Wakely 2. Cut flowers: Mrs J. W. Holland 1, Miss Viles 2, Mrs Wakely 3. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on April 14. Revival of Football. Football has been dormant in Featherston during the past few seasons, but the youths have decided to revive the national game and will hold a meeting next week, when arrangements will be made for the coming season. It has peen definitely decided that the administration of the club will be carried out by active members only.
