DOUBLE TRAGEDY
MOTOR DRIVER TO STAND TRIAL. * RECENT PALMERSTON NORTH ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, March 10. As the outcome of a double motor fatality in Taonui Street, Palmerston North, on the night of February 25 last, Lawrence Christian de Vantier, motor-driver, aged 22, Palmerston North, who pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence, was committed today to the Supreme Court for trial on two charges, that, while ’being in a state of intoxication in charge of a motor-truck, he negligently drove the vehicle, causing the deaths of Arthur Firman Taylor, upholsterer, aged 55, and Garnet Herbert William Over, piano tuner, aged 59, both of Palmerston North. Bail was renewed on the same conditions.
