CARTERTON SALE
WRIGHT STEPHENSON & CO., LTD. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when we offered a fair yarding of stock to a fair attendance. Sheep sold at late rates but bidding was slack. Cattle were slightly firmer than last week. Pigs were weaker. Following are the prices:— Sheep: 4 and 5-yr. ewes, to 12s lOd; s.m. ewes, 7s sd, 7s 6d, 7s 7d to 8s 7d; ewe lambs, 10s 3d to i4s; wether lambs, 8s to 8s 4d; fat lambs, 17s 9d to 20s 6d; 2-th. wethers, to 15s 9d; b.f. 2-ths„ to 13s 4d; S.D. rams, to 4gns.; Romney rams, to Ign. Cattle: Springing heifers, £5 to £6 12s 6d; fat cows, £4 to £5 ss; forward cows, £2 18s to £3 15s; store cows, 39s to £2 Ils; cows and calves, to £6 Is; bulls, to £4. Pigs: Weaners (good), 10s to 12s 6d; (medium), 6s 6d to 8s; (small), 4s to 6s; slips, 14s to 17s; store pigs, 19s to 275; light porkers, 29s to 335; porkers, 35s to £2 12s; choppers, 10s to 30s; sows to farrow, £2 15s to £3 7s; boars, to £2.
