A FAREWELL GATHERING. MR AND MRS. B. ASHER LEAVING THE DISTRICT. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Asher has disposed of his farm and is going to live in Wellington. The time was spent in dancing. Shortly before supper, Mr. Bargh wished Mr Asher luck and happiness and regretted the loss of such a splendid helper. He asked Mr and Mrs Asher to accept a dinner service, a set of carvers and a travelling rug from their many friends at Pihautea. Mr. Playle, chairman of the School Committee, spoke of the work Mr Asher had done during his 12 years as a committee man and asked him to accept a shaving outfit. Mr Asher said he and Mrs Asher regretted saying good-bye and thanked the settlers for their gifts and good wishes. Supper was handed round and dancing continued. The evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” Ladies’ Guild. The Kahautara-Pihautea-Kaiwaiwai Ladies’ Guild held its opening meeting on Tuesday at the home of the president, Mrs J.
