OPTIMIST CLUB
MR A. E. BATE ,FAREWELLED. ELECTED LIFE MEMBER. A very pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr A. Handyside when the Optimist Club farewelled Mr A. E. Bate. Mr Murray Finlayson, vice-presi-dent of the club, in making the presentation of a small gift of esteem, referred to the sterling services Mr Bate had rendered to the club and expressed regret at losing such a staunch supporter. Mr Finlayson’s remarks were endorsed by other members. Mr Bate was v elected a life member of the Masterton Optimist Club. Mr Bate thanked the members for their kind thoughts and wished the club every success for the future. Mr McKee Wright was welcomed as a new member. The evening concluded with musical honours. '
