TRUST AFFAIRS

TECHNICAL SCHOOL BUILDING LEASED. SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICES. Mr H. P. Hugo (chairman) presided over the usual monthly meeting of the .Masterton Trust Lands Trust held last evening. There were also present: Messi's J. Maefarlane Laing, R. Krahagen. H. H. Daniell. C. E. Grey. E. G. Eton, A. O. Jones and J. H. Handyside. Accounts amounting to £lOO7 Is lOd were passed. The secretary reported a credit balance in the three accounts of £1125 3s Bd. A letter was received from the secretary of the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, drawing the Trust's attention to an erroneous impression that might have been created by remarks made by members at the last meeting of the Trust and published in the Press concerning the club’s financial position. It was pointed out that the club would finish the year with a loss of about £6O and had recorded a loss for the past two years. Trustees expressed the opinion that the Trust should give foremost consideration to educational facilities. The letter was acknowledged and it was decided that if an application were received further consideration should be given to the matter when the .incoming estimates were being framed. Mr G. G. Hancox, Principal of Wairarapa College, waited upon the Trustees concerning a grant in connection, with library matters at the College. The proceedings were taken in committee. The Trust decided to make a special grant of £26 for library purposes. A letter was received from the Government accepting the Trust’s offer of a lease of the Technical School building at a rental of £312 per annum, plus rates. The building will be used as offices for the Social Security Department. Reference was made by Messrs Laing and Krahagen to the fine work of Mr A. E. Bate as secretary of the Y.M.C.A., and also to the excellent carnival held by the Parents’ Association of Wairarapa College. Appreciation was expressed by members of the way in which these bodies had helped themselves. The next meeting of the Trust was fixed for April 20.
