LIGHT RAIN IN WAIRARAPA. GOOD DOWNPOUR NEEDED. Following on the southerly change which set in last evening light rain fell throughout the Wairarapa. Although a heavy downpour is need to give any permanent relief from the drought conditions prevailing, the rain that has fallen will freshen pastures a little, especially if dull weather’is experienced for a day or so. The change in temperature was most noticeable after the hot weather of the past few weeks. Up to 9 a.m. this morning 12 points of rain had been registered in Masterton and 10 points at Solway. According to the forecast issued at noon today by the Government Meteorologist, the weather is likely to bc overcast with intermittent light rain, though a temporary improvement is in prospect.
