CRIPPLE’S WISH
ILLNESS PREVENTS MEETING WITH LORD NUFFIELD. Although arrangements had been made for Miss Clara Cross, of Colombo Road, to be introduced to Lord Nuffield on his visit to Masterton yesterday, it was found impossible to carry them out. on account of Miss Cross having taken a bad turn. Miss Cross had expressed a desire to meet Lord Nuffield to express her gratitude and thanks for what he had done to assist crippled sufferers, of whom she is one. Upon being apprised of the position. Lord Nuffleld’s first thought was to visit her if time would permit. Unfortunately, •as he was already behind schedule, it was not possible to fulfil his desire. Lord Nuffield expressed his regret that Miss Cross was not so well and said he would have been delighted to have met her. He hoped that she would soon be better and that on some future occasion-he would have the pleasure of meeting her.
