MASTERTON SALE
y SHEEP VALUES EASIER. The Wairarapa Live Stock Auctioneering Association report: There was another good yarding at the Masterton Saleyards yesterday. An entry of approximately 6,500 sheep was penned to a good average attendance of local buyers, the Manawatu and Wanganui districts also being represented. Values were, as anticipated, inclined to be easier. This, however, was most noticeable on the top lines. We are able to report practically a total clearance under the hammer. Bidding on the main lines of 5-year ewes was certainly restricted, and prices in this section were below late quotations. The quality of the younger ewes was not up to the standard of our main fairs. Competition, however, on these lines was keen, and satisfactory sales resulted. The top price of the day was obtained by Mr C. J. Nix for a line of 2-th ewes which realised 27s 3d. Other main sales were as follows: — 2-th ewes: Account Harvey Bros, 275; W. J. Cottle, 21s; A. McGregor, 20s 8s; J. Campbell, 255; P. M. Compton, 23s 6d. 4- ewes; Account “Glenburn” Station, 245; G. McKay, 19s 2d; J. J. Savage, 19s 2d. 5- ewes: Account J. C. Ewington, 12s; Kummer Bros, 14s; J. A. Card, 14s 6d; Te Roto, 13s 6d; Pharazyn Est, 13s. M.a. ewes: Account A. McGregor, 17s 6d; “Glenburn,” 18s Id; P. M. Compton, 17s 6d. Two-tooth wethers made from 13s to 13s 9d, while 4-ths realised from 15s 6d to 16s Bd. Ewe lambs sold, for an extra good line, up to 20s. Others made from 14s 3d to 16s 6d; wether lambs 7s 6d to 12s Id and up to 13s lOd. ,
