WEDDING
HOOPER—JOYCE. Pearl white satin was cnosen by Ngira, daughter of Mr E. T. Joyce and the late Mrs Joyce, of Masterton, for her marriage on Saturday evening to John Wrayford, son of Mr and Mrs H. Hooper,, of Hastings. The wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Church, Hastings, the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw officiating. Mr C. B. Spinney presided at the organ and during the service the hymn,. “The Voice that Breathed O’er Eden,” was sung. The church was decorated with blue and white hydrangeas, the pews being tied with white ribbon and decorated with posies. The bride was given away by her father. and looked charming in her exquisite bridal gown, with the skirl shirred in front and falling in a flare to the hem and into a train, finished with a small vandyked hem. The bodice was neatly shirred at the neckline and waist. The long tailored sleeves were vandyked at the wrist. Tiny buttons trimmed the back right down to the hem of the train. The waistline was belted. White satin snoes peeped from the hem of the skirt. The tulle veil, richly embroidered, was mounted on her head with a halo of orange blossoms and tiny white lilies and fell softly over her face when entering the church. A sheaf of white Regale lilies, gladioli and fems was carried. Her attendants were the Misses Iris Southey, Masterton, and Joy Warren, Hastings. They wore picturesque long frocks of blue sheer, with flowers of French blue velvet at neckline and waist. The sleeves were puffed and came to the bangle line. They wore silver shoes and little blue straw hats and carried handsome bouquets of blue and pink flowers and ferns. Margaret Lowe was a charming little flower girl, dressed in a Victorian style of frock of camelia pink taffetas, finely shirred at the waist; the bodice trimmed in front with small bows of similar material to that of the frocks of the bridesmaids. She wore a band of blue flowers on her head and carried a petty posy of flowers. Mr. Ronald Hooper attended his brother as best man, and Mr Gerald Hooper was groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Rialto Tea Rooms, which had been prettily decorated with flowers. Over the heads of bride and bridegroom was suspended a large horseshoe. The very handsome wedding cake had been made by Mrs Southey, of Masterton, and iced by Mrs Lowe, of Hastings. As the bride and bridegroom left the church, they passed through a guard-of-honour formed by the members oi the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Mr Joyce, and Mrs Joyce, stepmother of the bride, and Mr and Mrs Hooper, parents of the bridegroom, received the guests. Mrs Joyce wore a model frock oi navy blue sheer patterned with white, navy blue hat, and carried flowers to tone. . - Mrs Hooper wore old rose cloque, with .vestee of striped silk combining, black rose and white; coat to match, and black hat and-shoes, and carried a pretty bouquet. The usual toasts were honoured and the reception was a very cheerful one. The honeymoon is being spent in a motor tour, and Mrs Hooper travelled in a navy blue English model frock,, jacket to match, smartly finished with a strap of the material fastening at one side. White yandyked silk finished the coat and sleeves. A navy hat and gloves were worn. Mr and Mrs Hooper, will in futuie live in Hastings. The bride was the guest-of-honour at several parties and among the many beautiful wedding gifts of the greatlyesteemed young couple was a very handsome fire screen, presented to the bridegroom by the members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, of which the bridegroom is a very energetic and popular member.
