NEW COMMISSIONER
SIR H. BATTERBEE ARRIVING ON FRIDAY. AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 7. The first holder .of the office of British High Commissioner in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterbee, will arrive at Auckland by the Rangitata from London on Friday morning, accompanied by Lady Batterbee, and will leave by train the same night for Wellington to take up his .duties. Three functions have been arranged in Auckland in honour of the High Commissioner. A welcome will be given by the Auckland Harbour Board on Queen’s Wharf after the liner has berthed. This will be followed by a civic reception in the city council chamber.
Sir Harry and Lady Batterbee have accepted an invitation to be present at an afternoon reception in the Ellerslie racecourse gardens organised by the central committee of the Auckland patriotic societies, comprising the Royal Empire Society, the Victoria League, the Overseas League, the Navy League and the Royal Society of St. George.
