WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING OF TIRAUMEA BRANCH. There was a large attendance at the March meeting of the Tiraumea Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs R. Houlbrooke was welcomed as a new member,. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Hislop, Mrs D. Jewitt and Miss R. Jewitt. Miss E. Wallis won the lucky competition. The competition for the,prettiest posyi'was won by Mrs Wallis with Miss’G: Harman second. The competition for the April meeting is to be the best article made out of a flour bag or a yard of unbleached calico. Mrs Houlbrooke Senr., gave an interesting demonstration of smocking. Mrs Hislop was the winner of a guessing competition Held during the afternoon. Hostesses for the April meeting are Mesdames Lindergreen, McKenzie and S. Raleigh. Each member is to bring a joke signed with a non-de-plume and all are to be read out. Mrs Houlbrooke presented Barbara Harman with a Post Office Savings book and box.
