WEDDING
BENGE—WALTON. The marriage took place at St Aidan’s Church, Miramar, recently, of Miss Alice Lilian Walton, only daughter of Mr and Mrs R. E. Walton, Miramar, Wellington, and Bertrand Parsons, elder son of Mr and Mrs Walter Benge, Te Mania, 'Upper Hutt. The Rev Charles C. Willis was the officiating clergyman and the bride was given away by hex- father. Preceding the bride as she entered the church, two small flower girls in delicate pink windswept georgette wore frocks the same shade as those chosen by the three bridesmaids. Juliet caps of rosebuds were worn by the child attendants and their posies of deeper pink showed touches of blue flowers. Stiffened lacquered sheer over ivory satin made a delightful combination for the bride’s gown. A peter pan collar topped the fitting bodice with its shaped waist and the full skirt fell into a long train. A second train was formed by a full tulle veil held to the head with a halo of orange blossom. White roses composed her bouquet and as she left the church a horseshoe was presented by Shirley Macdonald. The bridesmaids in frocks of delicate pink wore top knots and tulle veils to tone and carried deeper pink roses. They were Miss Audrey Macdonald, chief, Miss Ngaire Marshall, cousin of the bride, and Miss Iris Walmsley. The best man was Mr Colin Benge, brother of the bridegroom, and the groomsmen were Messrs Robert Walton, brother of the bride, and William Lees, cousin of the bride. Messrs Gordon Taylor and Malcolm Wheatley were ushers. During the ceremony “O Perfect Love” was sung by the choir boys. A reception was held in the Grand Hotel, the guests being received by Mrs Walton assisted by Mrs Benge. Mrs Walton wore a long frock of clover sheer embossed with silver leaves and a hat of matching sisal straw. She carried a bouquet of honey coloured roses. Mrs Benge wore a black frock and hat and a cape of squirrel fur. Her bouquet was of deep red roses. Mr and Mrs B. P. Benge left later for Russell, the bride wearing a musquash coat over a tailored costume of navy blue.
Their future home will be in Carterton.
