MAORI SENTENCED

TEN YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT. MANSLAUGHTER OF WIFE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, March 6. Rewi Kerehi, alias Dave Grace, who was found guilty of the manslaughter of bis wife in Tuparoa. was sentenced by Mr Justice Northcroft today to 10 years’ imprisonment. Counsel sought leniency because of war wounds and because the prisoner had been drinking, but his Honour said that though the prisoner was subject to fits of violence and passion, possibly caused by drink, he did not think in that ease that the prisoner did not know what he was doing.
