PONGAROA
SCHOOL PICNIC. (“Times-Age” Special.) Weather conditions were ideal for the Pongaroa School picnic, which was held on the Domain on Saturday. Children were present from all the surrounding schools, and a large number of adults took an interest in the events. After luncheon, which was served by the ladies, races and novelty events were kept going merrily, with numerous interludes for refreshments. Personal. Mrs W. E. Davies is on a visit to her daughter at Te Rahunga, Dannevirke. Mr and Mrs F. Wardle Senr. were recent visitors to Hawke’s Bay. Mr and Mrs D. McDonald and family are visiting Akitio Beach. Mr and Mrs R. W. Kebbell, Alfredton, were weekend visitors to Mr and Mrs S. C. Humphries, Wairaku. Miss Ivy Berry, of Mangaweka, is visiting her mother, Mrs J. H. Berry. Mr and Mrs S. C. Humphries, Wairaku. attended the Hadlow School sports in Masterton on Saturday. Mr W. Meech, who competed at the Herbertville sports on Saturday was successful in winning outright the cup for the open jump. He also won the medal for most points in the field events. The engagement is announced of Doris, second daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Heath, of Pongaroa, and James Henry, second son of Mrs and the late Mr J. P. McGill, of Palmerston North.
