A specialist, after an examination, saidthat he should be most careful not to receive visitors or conduct correspondence. Congress Ministers are hoping to end Mr Gandhi’s fast, and have telegraphed urging the Viceroy, Lord Linlithgow, to intervene. A message published on Friday stated that Gandhi threatened that, unless he received a satisfactory reply to a 24-hour ultimatum demanding constitutional reforms in Rajkot States, he would begin an indefinite fast at 6.30 a.m. on March 3. He demands that the people be given a voice, in the administration. STRENGTH MAINTAINED. RAJKOT, March 5. Mahatma Gandhi is extraordinarily cheerful and is maintaining his strength/though he appears to be thinner. Hindu Scriptures are being read to him during his fast.
