Mr George Lansbury, has sent an appeal .to the Pope to summon a conference to consider means of securing international peace. “I have met face to face most of the leading statesmen of the world,” says Mr Lansbury. "Every one admits that unless the present arms race is ended, the result will be universal destruction. Unfortunately no one will take his courage in both hands and fling out a challenging call. ' “I appeal to you to call religious leaders to meet you in conference to discuss what pressure may be brought to bear on the statesmen of the world to cease the insane march to destruction.”
