The Defence Ministry has ordered the reorganisation of the centre and south Republican armies under the supreme command of Dr Negrin, Republican Premier, indicating that the Republicans are determined to resist to the bitter end. ALL FRONTS QUIET. BARCELONA, March 5. An official communique states that all fronts are quiet. Bombing raids were conducted over Deni and Cartagena. REVOLT QUELLED ATTEMPT BY INSURGENTS IN CARTAGENA. TEMPORARY OCCUPATION OF RADIO' STATION. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) GIBRALTAR, March 5. A revolt against the Republicans is reported to |have broken out in Cartagena, where the Nationalists occupied the naval radio station and broadcast an appeal for help, asking the Nationalists to despatch warships to Cartagena. The revolt was speedily quelled, however, the Republicans re-occupymg the radio station. ATTACK ON MADRID FRANCO’S PREPARATIONS. HORDES OF AEROPLANES TO ASSIST. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) ROME, March 5. “II Messagero” says the road from BurgoS to Madrid is choked with artillery and armoured cars, which are being concentrated preparatory to General Franco’s great attack on the capital, which will be aided by hordes of aeroplanes. INDIAN PROTEST. AGAINST RECOGNITION OF FRANCO. CALCUTTA, March 5. The Congress leader Chanbra Bose has cabled Mr Chamberlain as follows: —“On behalf of the Indian people we emphatically protest against Britain’s recognition of General Franco as being a betrayal of the legally-con-situted Republican Government. The Government of India considers that the recognition violates international law and morality.” SALUTE BY WARSHIPS. PALMA (Majorca), March 5. HMS Devonshire anchored in the bay'today and fired a salute of 21 guns in honour of the British recognition of General Franco. The shore batteries replied.
