FINE PROCESSION

PUPILS OF WAIRARAPA COLLEGE. PRELIMINARY TO GRAND FAIR. An event preliminary to the Wairarapa College grand fair, which is being held this afternoon, took place in Queen Street this morning when the pupils combined in a remarkably good procession of decorated floats, cars, bicycles and even ponies. Novelty and burlesque were the keynotes of the procession, which attracted widespread interest and caused considerable amusement. It was headed by the College Pipe Band and included all manner of splendidly decorated lorries manned by boys and girls in fancy costume. The banners covered a wide range and considerable ingenuity was shown in their lettering. In addition to the floats there were a number of decorated cars, one conveying a young Hitler accompanied by four Storm Troopers. There were College House Belles, Dad and Dave on a wool-covered lorry, a ragtime, nagtime and bagtime band, another lorry depicting a farming scene, with a cow providing the realistic touch, a wedding party in a horse drawn cab, another ancient cab drawn by man power, and scores of decorated bicycles ridden by children in fancy dress.

It was a most spectacular procession and the pupils are to be congratulated heartily on their enterprise.
