CHURCH SERVICES

The services at the‘Salvation Army tomorrow will be conducted by Major Mahaffie, which will take the form of farewell services to the candidates who are leaving for the Army’s Training College. In the morning service Major Mahaffie will take for his subject, ■“Spiritual Armaments.” Candidate Jones will give the address in the evening service. A special open-air gathering will take place in Queen Street at 7.45 p.m. This service is proving a great attraction, and is enjoyed by many friends. A special feature is the singing of the familiar Gospel songs and choruses. All are heartily invited to support the Army in this public witness for Christ. The monthly evening service of Holy Communion will be held in the Methodist Church tomorrow evening following a shortened service of worship. The preacher will be the Rev Fred. J. Parker and the subject, “God’s Gift to Us, and Our Gift to Him.” The morning service will be conducted by Mr F. G. Rutter. At the Kuripuni Methodist Church, Mr Parker will be the morning preacher with service of Holy Communion to follow, an<j in the evening Mr A. E. Bate will conduct the service. The afternoon service at Wangaehu will be held at 2.30 p.m., when Mr-Parker will be the preachr. The offerings at all Church of England services tomorrow will be given to the Melanesian Mission. At St Matthew’s the Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Rev T. V. Pearson will be the preacher in the morning, and the Vicar in the evening. Mr V. W. Joblin will be the preacher at Kuripuni. Interest continues in the addresses on prophecy being given in the Ruhamah Gospel Hall where Mr Wesley Richards is the speaker. It is expected that the series may conclude with next week’s meetings. Citizens have expressed themselves as being helped to a clearer understanding of happenings among the nations as the prophecies of the Bible have been unfolded in this series of addresses. A warm invitation is extended to everybody to hear these closing messages.
