General Franco has resumed the bombing of coastal towns. . Thirty bombs were dropped on Gandia, wrecking fourteen houses. Valencia and Cartagena were raided several t imes. '1 here were no casualties. POST FOR VETERAN MARSHAL PERTAIN OFFERED AMBASSADORSHIP. (Received This Day, 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, March 1. “The Times” Paris correspondent says M Daladier has offered Marshal Petain the ambassadorship to General Franco’s Government for a provisional period of three months. In view of his age of eighty-two, he will be accompanied by professional diplomatists, who will relieve him of specialised tasks. M Daladier believes that the respect due to Marshal Petain's distinguished career will make him an invaluable representative at a critical period. Marshal Petain will reply tomorrow.
