The Jewish National Council issued a manifesto today threatening to withdraw their co-operation from the British Government if the latter persisted with its plan to make Palestine an independent State. The manifesto rejects any scheme imposing a minority status on the Jews. Meanwhile, terrorism continues throughout the country. All shops are closed in Jerusalem and transport is inactive as the result of a partial Arab strike both here and in Haifa. A British official wireless message states that the British representatives yesterday heard a further expression of the views of' the Arabs on the British suggestions when there was a meeting of the British and Arab delegations. In the meantime the special joint committee which has been examining the McMahon correspondence with r. view to the publication of an agreed translation along with the text is understood to be making excellent progress and to be within sight of the end of its labours.
