RIFLE SHOOTING COMPETITIONS. TARARUA CLUB. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Tarawa Rifle Club fired the first shoot for the Thomasen Cup, conditions for which are three shoots, all to count. The shoot-off for the trophy donated by Perry’s, Ltd., was won by F. Sigvertsen. The scores were as follow: —

Handicap limit: 97. Kaiparoro Club. At Kaiparoro on Saturday the second championship shoot was fired over the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges. This shoot also marked the opening of a contest for a trophy donated by

Cricket. The Rongomai cricket team played the Eketahuna Fire Brigade in , a friendly game during the weekend! at Eketahuna. Rongomai won on the first innings, time not permitting the match to be finished. Rongomai won the toss and sent Eketahuna in to bat first.. Fire Brigade made 79 in their first innings (Waterreus 11, Rowden 22, Robinson 21) and 92 in their second strike (Robinson 31, Brown 35, Kendall 12). Rongomai made 132 in their first innings (Graham 13, Stevenson 27, Payne 63, Reid 13) and 28 for the loss of one wicket in the second innings. Swimming.
