FOOTBALL STRIKE
THREATENED IN ENGLAND. PROFESSIONALS WANT HIGHER PAY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, February 28. The Players’ Union, representing over sixty per cent of the professional footballers in England, has resolved to call a strike on a secret date unless players receive a minimum of £4 weekly throughout the year and a maximum of £9 a week during the football season, instead of £8 as at present; also increased bonuses and the insurance of each player against injury for £lOOO.
