Y.M.C.A. HELPERS

LADIES’ AUXILIARY MEETING. ARRANGEMENTS FOR CARNIVAL. Mrs M. G. Mac Kay, vice-president, occupied the chair at the monthly- meet-' ing of the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary held yesterday. It was decided to renew- some of the furnishings in the rooms. The staffing of the stalls and other carnival matters were fully discussed. Reference was made especially to the cabaret, and members of the Auxiliary undertook to provide for part of the catering. Anticipating that other carnival matters would require attending to, it was decided to hold a special meeting of the Auxiliary on Friday, March 10, at 2.30 p.m. It was decided to make a donation of £25 to the general funds of the association for the general purposes of .the Y.M.C.A. It was pointed out that this amount was not as large as usual, as owing to the proposed carnival, no garden party had been held this year. The general secretary, Mr A. E. Bate, thanked the auxiliary on behalf of the directors for its help. The secretary announced that the next meeting would be the annual meeting, the date for which was fixed for March 28. Nominations for the official positions on the auxiliary were to be made in writing to the secretary before the meeting. Mr Bate referred to the official welcome being extended to the new general secretary, Mr McKee Wright, on Thursday evening; and the auxiliary agreed to bring plates for the occasion. A welcome was extended to Mr D. McKee Wright, who would be commencing duty on the following day. Mrs Mac Kay expressed the hope that the association would still further progress under his leadership. Mr Wright, in response, thanked all the ladies for the cordiality of the welcome and expressed himself as being willing to do all he could to further the interests of tn'e association in cooperation with the auxiliary. Al the conclusion of the meeting Mesdames Perry, Orr and Welch entertained the members at afternoon tea.
