TWO KILLED

ENGINE SHATTERS MOTORCAR ON LEVEL CROSSING VICTIMS, MAN AND WIFE. ACCIDENT NEAR ASHBURTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) , ASHBURTON, February 28. , A double fatality occurred at a level crossing near Fairton, at 4 p.m. today, both victims being killed instantly. They were:— Martin John Esker, aged about 50, of Dromore. Bessie Esker, his wife, aged about 50. Mr and Mrs Esker were driving in a car over the crossing when it was struck by a special south-bound goods train, which shattered the vehicle. They leave three sons, one of whom resides in Christchurch and the others in Dromore.
