NATIONAL PLANS TO BE ANNOUNCED STATEMENT BY MR PARRY. SUCCESS OF FITNESS WEEK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. An indication that the National Physical Welfare Council would shortly announce its plans for the whole of New Zealand was given by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Parry, when addressing the gathering at the Wellington provincial athletic championships on Saturday. Mr Parry congratulated the officials on the record entries and the organisation of the meeting, and the athletes on their appearance in the grand parade, for which he took the salute. He expressed pleasure at the response by the people to the Fitness Week campaign, and the invaluable assistance of the committees and the Press, as well as that of the hundreds of other helpers. A campaign for the whole Dominion would shortly be announced, said Mr Parry. He gave an assurance that the officers of his department would give 100 per cent devotion to the aims and objects of the physical welfare organisation. Referring to the assistance of the Caledonian Pipe Band at the meeting, Mr Parry said the bands throughout the country had given wonderful assistance during Fitness Week.'“The bands have a friend in the Minister of Internal Affairs,” he said.
