FEILDING EWE FAIR

PRICES FIRM ON LATE RATES. AGED SHEEP SELL ERRATICALLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association ) FEILDING. February 24. Two-tooths and breeding ewes dropped 2s 6d a head at the Feilding supplementary ewe fair today, when close on 30,000 sheep were yarded, a fair proportion of these being store lambs. The drop in prices for young breeding ewes was doubtless caused by the depressed export market for fat sheep and also the dry weather. Aged sheep, however, sold well, though somewhat irregularly, and certain pens which were similar to those which brought up to 15s last week changed hands at more than 16s today. Others of apparently like quality were below last Friday’s quotations. On the whole, however, the prices were quite firm on values at the fair. For fat cattle, of which the yarding was fairly well supplied, there was a moderate demand; but for mutton the inquiry was quiet.
