MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S DIVISION MEETING. (‘(Times-Age” Special.) The Mauriceville Branch- of the Women’s Division held its meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs C. Hodgins. Opaki. The drawingroom was decorated with beautifuls crimson gladiolas, which were much admired. Miss G. Heckler presided over a good attendance. A letter was read from the Masterton Hospital thanking the branch for a donation. Mrs Heckler, who attended the opening of the Rest Home at Flock Housz, said such a home would be a boom to tired mothers. It had been the aim of the Division for many years to secure this home. A member kindly donated £1 towards a croquet set for the home. The annual meeting will be held the second week in April in the East Hall. The competition will be a one-egg sponge and a decorated bowl or saucer of flowers in sand. Mrs McDonald’s demonstration of floral work in sand was watched with great interest. Her work was very dainty and effective. The wandering shilling was won by Mrs C. Judd, who also was the winner of the competition for the best bloom. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Hodgins for the use of her home. Personal. The friends of Miss N. Milner, late of Carterton, and now of Melbourne, will be pleased to hear that she has left the Melbourne Hospital, having made a good recovery. Mrs A. Urquhart has returned to Wellington. Miss C. Palmer, who has been in Marton for some time has returned to her home at Mauriceville. The school picnic is to be held on Saturday. Prizes will be given out and a real, treat is promised the children. The committee and teacher would like to see parents attend in full force.
