WAIRARAPA PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS ANIMATED SCENE AT PARK TODAY. FAST JUNIOR HALF-MILE. Maslerton’s beautiful Park, bathed in glorious sunshine, was the scene of great activity today when the North Wairarapa Primary Schools held their annual sports gathering. The various schools were strongly represented and a splendid spirit of friendly rivalry prevailed, making for keen and interesting contests. The gathering is ably controlled by the teaching staffs of the competing schools. A feature of the events this morning was a fine junior half-mile which the winner, M. McGovern, Central, aged 11 years, cut out in the fast time of 2mins 3G 3-10 secs. In the senior 880 yards another Central lad, S. Blatchford, clocked 2mins 32secs without being seriously pushed. Several hundred sun-tanned, smiling children, competitors at the North Wairarapa Primary Schools sports, made their contribution to the Keep Fit Week in Mastertoil today when Hiov marched through the streets to the’ Park. Headed by the Central School Bugle Band, the .youngsters, neatly clad in their school uniforms, made an impressive spectacle, radiating physical health and fitness. The procession attracted keen interest.
