A provisional scheme of air rgi" precautions and emergency organisation for the Auckland metropolitan area was approved by a conference ol local authorities and other public interests. After having the scheme explained by the mayor. Sir Ernesi Davis, the conference appointed .'in executive committee to formulate t policy, take full control of the scheme and appoint various technical committees to deal with different aspects of the plan. Questioned about bomb-proof shelters, Sir Ernest said they had already been considered. The question of a bomb-proof shelter at Albert Pane had been gone into. For holding 15,009 people and 400 motor-cars one would cost about £250.00*1. However, this might not be adequate for a population of 220.000.
