LADIES’ GUILD & MISSIONARY AUXILIARY. ARRANGEMENTS FOR GARDEN PARTY. A well attended meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild and Women’s Missionary Auxiliary was held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. Mrs F. Parker presiding. After a hymn and prayer letters were read from the Dominion President, Miss E. Rishworth and from workers in the Solomon Islands. Two solos were rendered by Airs H. Speight and were greatly enjoyed. Miss E. Beale appealed for donations of eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuces for the Sunday School picnic to be held on Saturday next and also for assistance in the preparations for same. Arrangements were made for the annual Garden Party to be held on Saturday, March 18, the following being appointed to take charge of the' stalls: Cake, Mesdames Handyside, Shoosmith, Jackson and Andrew; afternoon tea, Mesdames Prior, Speight, Fly, Hendry, Madden and Martin; sweets and soft drinks, Mesdames Parker, Lyttle and Bible Class members; work and novelty, Mesdames Neilson, Daniell, Judd, Drew and Daysh; produce, Mesdames White, Hansen, Hoar and Miss Beale; competitions, sports, etc., Miss Ninnes and Messrs Shoosmith, Sanson, A. Handyside and Y.M.8.C.; programme. Misses L. Cocker and D. O’Donnell. It was decided to hold a competition for articles for the work stall to cost not more than Is. First and second prizes were donated by Mrs F. Parker and Miss V. Jackson respectively. Mrs A. J. Drew was appointed to receive entries for the competition at the Methodist Schoolroom on Friday, March 17, from 3 to 4 p.m.
