Quite a number of people visited the caves situated on the property of Mr Otto Larsen at Kaiparoro, under the guidance of Mr G. A. Hansen, as Kaiparoro’s contribution in connection with Fitness Week. The cavern, which runs about a quarter of a mile under a hill, was a source of wonder and delight. When the party returned to the tennis courts the scene was already an animated one, young folk wearing masks and in gay fancy dress. Mr G. Hansen, on behalf of the Fitness Week Committee, said he hoped everyone present would have a jolly time. Nobody would mind how noisy they were as long as they enjoyed themselves. The Maori Party then filed on to the courts, each wearing a handsome mat. Under the directorship of Mr Thomson, who explained they were trying to revive the ancient art of their forebears, they performed a spirited haka with a swinging rhythm, and then two action songs in sweet harmony. The dancing which then proceeded to spirited music was interspersed with items by the Maori entertainers and others. Later, dancing was continued in the hall. Rifle Shooting. The first of the championship shoots was fired over the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges at Kaiparoro. The shoot also completed 'the contest for Mr C. Welch’s trophy, which was won by Rifleman F. Schormann with a total score of 235. A competition for a trophy donated by Mr Gordon Dick was also commenced. Personal. Mr and Mrs T. Hooper have left on a holiday trip to the South Island for six weeks. Miss Olwyn Davies (Levin) is spending her holidays with the Misses Elizabeth and Alison Simmers at their home. Mrs W. F.
