OBITUARY
MRS EDWARD WELCH. The death occurred this morning in the Masterton Hospital of Mrs Edward Welch, a well-known resident of the town for the past 56 years. The late Mrs Welch had been an invalid for about five years. Born in England, she came to New Zealand with her parents, Mr and Mrs Barnes, in the sailing ship Oxford, arriving here in 1883. The family took up their residence in Masterion, where the late Mrs Welch had resided ever since. In her younger days she took a keen interest in the affairs of the Methodist Church. Her husband predeceased her six months ago. The funeral will take place on Friday and will leave the residence of her sister, Mrs F. Fellingham, at the conclusion of a service to be held, starting at 2.30 o’clock. MRS TE ARGH ATAL The death occurred yesterday of Heeni Matiaha Te Arohatai, at her residence, Gladstone. The late Mrs Te Arohatai was 90 years of age and was one of the oldest native residents of the Gladstone district. She leaves r family of five, four daughters and one son. 'besides 50 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving her late residence. Gladstone. at 3 p.m. for the Hurunuiorangi Cemetery, Gladstone.
