The Aotea-Roa which is the first of the flying boats for the Tasman air mail service, was launched on the Medway for trial flights this week. It will be followed quickly, by the Australian and the Awarua. Each will have a range of 2000 miles, and will carry seventeen passengers and mails. The loaded weight will be 46,0001b5, compared with the 40,5001bs of the ordinary Empire flying-boats.
