POOR RECEPTION
AUSTRALIAN LOAN FARES BADLY. LESS THAN HALF SUBSCRIBED IN LONDON. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, February 21. The public response to the Commonwealth Works Loan of £8,500,000 was disappointing. Less than half was subscribed when it closed today. It is expected that the underwriters will require to take up at least £2,000,000. The comparative failure of the loan is attributed to its following too closely on the last big conversion.
