GAME AT PALMERSTON NORTH FAST SCORING BY HOME TEAM. HARDSTAFF AND PHILLIPSON BAT ■ WELL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ February 20. The highest score so far against Sir Julian Cahn’s touring cricketers was made in Palmerston North today by ihe Minor Associations’ team, who. winning the toss, made a first innings total of 206. At. stumps the visitors had lost four wickets for 162. The match was most interesting and attracted a crowd of 2500, which swelled later in the afternoon. The wicket was fast, but the weather was cool and overcast with a westerly wind blowing across the pitch. The batting was brisk. The home team made 206 in 141 minutes. Minor Associations./ The wicket was dry and appeared perfect for batsmew'. Hardstaff and Phillipson resumed. The forme-, took a single from Pritchard’s first ball. The second bumped up awkwardly and struck Phillipson on the body. Pritchard’s speed was very impressive. The first ball of his second over spelt disaster for Phillipson who played it on to his wicket. The newcomer was Lush but he failed to score, Pritchard uprooting his off stump.
