CONFERENCE IN LONDON INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT SOUGHT. ATTEMPT TO CUT DOWN CHARGES. I Independent Cable Service. I (Received This Day. 10.45 a.m.) LONDON. February 20. Forty-five countries, including Britain, Now Zealand. Australia, South Africa, Eire, India and America, are to be represented at an air travel conference opening in London tomorrow, to discuss the possibility of concluding an international agreement dealing with taxation exemption for aircraft fuel and lubricants. It is believed that the conference may result in a lower cost of civil air transport abroad, as at present aircraft fuelled in foreign countries have to pay in some cases prices far in excess of those prevailing in their own countries, owing to heavier taxation. The conference hopes to arrange for some taxation relief or standardisation of charges.
