DEBUTANTES’ REVUE
ATTRACTION DURING CARNIVAL WEEK. KEEN ENTHUSIASM EVIDENT. A notable attraction during the carnival week to be held in March, organised by the Masterton Beautifying Society and the Y.M.C.A., will be the Debutantes' Revue, which will be presented in the Opera House for a season of four nights, March 11, 13, 14. and 15. The St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, for the past few weeks, has been thO scene of great activity, as rehearsals are being conducted there in the limited time available. The marked enthusiasm shown by the performers augurs well for the success of the Revue. Mr J. Lawson, who has control of the Revue, said all the members of the cast were most enthusiastic and were devoting practically all their spare time to practices. A large ladies' committee has in hand such important matters as the frocking and other detail arrangements are well forward.
Many newcomers to Masterton audiences wilTbe taking part and with such experienced performers as Zarah the Magician and Miss Maureen Nix. of the Frank Neil Revue Company, the revue is expected to touch a very high standard. Among the local'talent there will be such accomplished artists as Miss Bebe Francis, whose fine work in Amateur Theatrical productions, has endeared her to the public. A tap dance trio, consisting of Messrs M. McMullen, Don Stratton and Miss Mary Greenlees, will contribute an excellent piece of work. Mr Tom Wynne has had great experience as a stage manager, and with his assistants he should keep things running smoothly. ' Miss Dorothy Tate and her well known ballet girls will add grace to the revue. Humorous sketches will be another attraction. Mrs E. K. Eastwood will be the pianiste. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” will be featured by Miss Patricia Van Praagh and the Hadlow School boys. The celebrated Lambeth Walk will be enacted. This popular dance will no doubt occasion much laughter. A Maori party from the East Coast will render popular Maori items, and vocal solos will be given by Messrs William C. Mann , R. G. Gilbert and V. McKeague. Miss Jean McKay and her accordion band will also contribute to the fore. Popular prices will be charged, and booking will open shortly at H. E. Pither’s, Queen Street.
