Lady Maxwell, of the isle of Bute, Scotland, who is a sister of Lieutenant Bowers, of the Scott Antarctic Expedition, has sent to the Waitaki Boys’ High School her brother's sledging flag, to be hung in the hall of memories. A duplicate was presented to the Polar Institute. Cambridge University. Lady Maxwell has said that the flag is sent in recognition of the warm-hearted appreciation and commemoration of the expedition shown throughout the last 25 years by the annual memorial service at Oamaru. She: “I heard something about you today which loft me speechless.” He: “What a pity! Now I shall never know what it was."
