SUCCESSFUL MEETING
AIIIARUHE-PONATAHI SPORTS I KEEN COMPETITION IN EVENTS. : The annual fixture of the Ahiaruhei Ponatahi Sports: chib was held'on the i Carterton Showgrounds on Saturday and was a financial success as well as being a most enjoyable gathering. There was a large attendance and the events were got off without a hitch. The officials worked hard to achieve success and are to be complimented on their efforts. The club's energetic secretary, Mr L. H. Smart, assisted by Miss Molly Smart, had all the arrangements complete and the posting of results was done with promptness and recorded to the public from Mr C. Kemp Goodin’s electric sound machine, which also provided music which was much appreciated. Several side-shows, including a merry-go-round, were on the grounds and did fairly good business. Afternoon tea was in the capable hands of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union who were kept very busy throughout the day. There was keen competition in the events. The J. and J. W. Snell Memorial Cup for most points in adult horse events was Avon by Mr Trevor Tully, who scored 18 points. The following are results of the events: — Tilting (men or ladies): C. Hayes. 1; E.
