TRANSPORT LICENSING
SITTING OF No, 2 AUTHORITY. "AMPLE FACILITIES AVAILABLE.” Mr P. Skoglund presided at a sitting of the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority held in Masterton today. Mr P. C. Fitzgerald appeared for the Railways Department. There were no objections to an application for the tranference of Robert Boattie’s licence to W. R. Welch and the application was granted. W. Chapman and Sons applied for an amendment to their existing licences to provide for an addition vehicle authority. On behalf of the Transport Federation. Mr J. Macfarlane Laing objected on general grounds, contending that there was at present ample transport facilities available in the district. It was, ho said, only the thin edge of the wedge. Mr Skoglund said he thought Chapman and Sons were entitled to the extra vehicle authority. It would, however, be confined to the carriage of live stock in the Wairarapa South and Featherston counties from November 1 to May 31. S. G. Cook, W. J. McGill and P. L. Darke were granted renewals of their licences and applications were also granted for the transference of the three operators’ licences to the- Railways Department. In the course of thesitting Mr SkogIttnd said: "As I have already indicated I consider there are ample transport facilities available in all my districts ” A licence previously granted to J. E. Bockett, Featherston, was revoked.
