GOODS MADE BY BLIND
SALE AT MASTERTON SHOW. SUBSTANTIAL SUM REALISED. At the Masterton Show the Women’s National Welfare League and the Rotary Club had a stall at which goods made by the blind were on sale. The excellent display of goods attracted considerable attention and satisfactory business resulted, the sum of £B5 being taken. During the afternoon a member of the Blind Institute made a wooden tray with a woven pith cane edging, a splendid piece of work which was eagerly snapped up by a purchaser. It was fascinating to watch the blind man making the tray. The response of the public to such a worthy object is greatly appreciated by the organisers, who speak in terms of gratefulness of the support given to the sale of goods at the show, and also of the assistance and sympathy received. The promoters are indebted to the Masterton A. and P. Association for having allotted space at the Show for the stall free of charge. All the labour connected with the sale of goods at the Show was of a voluntary character and the proceeds of the sale, less a small amount for expenses, has been forwarded to the Blind Institute at Auckland. Those who were unable to buy goods at the Show may order them through Mrs H. E. Pither. Lansdowne.
