A Melbourne manufacturer of silver platewarc is contemplating ihe establishment of a factory in Now Zealand, according Io Mr G. S. Sleight, managing director of a Melbourne firm ol funeral directors, who is in Christchurch. Mr Sleight said that the manufacturer was in New Zealand now. after landing at Auckland, and was investigating prospects for starting the industry. Mr Sleight saw no reasons why such work should not bo done in New Zealand. For the last five years metal furnishings for coffins had been manufactured satisfactorily in Melbourne, whereas until (lien’ they had been imported fromEngland. He commended the objects oi the import restrictions, and said that the move was quite justified.
