IRON FOR JAPAN
EXPORTS FROM AUSTRALIA TO CONTINUE DECISION OF FEDERAL CABINET. PORT KEMBLA REQUEST TURNED DOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE. February 15. The Cabinet rejected the request of the waterside workers at Port Kembla to prohibit the export of iron to Japan. This decision was based partly on information that the export of pig iron will not prejudice Australian industries, and partly on the ground that to impose an embargo because Japan is at war might be considered a provocative act.
